The reason for the archive

About Evermore Aesthetics

The attraction is a lasting finish. The more interesting subject is its upkeep.

Evermore and upkeep

Evermore has the sound of something completed: beauty made durable, the work done. A less settled possibility appeals to me. There is interest in the repair itself, in the material underneath a surface and in the awkward distance between an appealing idea and an observed change.

GHK-Cu gives that curiosity a particular subject. The tissue-remodelling literature brings collagen and elastin synthesis together with matrix enzymes and their restraints. The activity in that account absorbs me; I have less affection for an image of youth held perfectly still.

My bias is toward maintenance. I like finding that an apparently simple surface has complicated work behind it. The word in the title is an invitation to linger over that work, with a little suspicion of the idea that anything is ever finished.

An editorial archive

Evermore Aesthetics collects essays about published research on skin, copper peptides and repair. The name belongs to these essays. There is no aesthetics business here: no treatment service, no consultations and no products to order.

Nothing in this archive is medical advice. A passage about a study cannot assess a person's skin, health or treatment. My place here is editorial; the site creates no clinical relationship.

The pleasure of the subject is intellectual and sometimes visual: a cultured cell making collagen, copper retained in a skin preparation, a number that becomes more modest and more useful when its outcome is spelled out. Those are sufficient reasons for this site to exist.

The unfinished question

Duration is the question the name leaves hanging. A measured change is interesting; knowing whether it lasts would deepen that interest. I am especially curious about observations made after an intervention ends, when the language of upkeep has to meet the passage of time.

For now, the archive has a manageable centre. The collagen experiment, cosmetic results, delivery study and hair trial are different encounters with appearances and the material behind them. My enthusiasm can survive a small result. It has less patience for a large adjective doing a small result's job.
